- The dunlop maxply models were produced from 1933 to 1983 and was probably
the most famous racket ever produced. Rod Laver won the grand slam of tennis
playing the maxply in 1962. Vinnie Richards had a picture decal model of the
maxply that he endorsed in the late 1930s. The McEnroe maxply was the last
model produced in 1983 which was about the end of the wood racket era.
