But to the advanced player who makes topspin a big part of the game, this new Davis Topspin is an exciting choice. FIBER AND FIBERGLASS throughout the bow means more strength at the head. This extra power, plus DIAGONAL STRINGING, delivers more topspin on the forehand, more slice and hop on the serve. Open-throat design. Genuine Leather grip, 2-handed hitting." HISTORY/MORE DETAILS: TOPSPIN, c. 1980-84 A return to the diagonally strung rackets which were innovated by T A Davis, a tennis pioneer, in the 1930s. According to Victor Sports, the string maker for Davis racquets, the fiberglass/wood, diagonal-strung Topspin racket really does impart extra topspin to the ball. This represented the last wood or wood/composite racket manufactured by Davis. The Topspin unit has every advantage of the top racquets of its day plus the diagonal stringing. The racket is fully playable, totally authentic original and complete on both sides. Clocks may be removed if desired to play this durable new historic stick on the court! These rare racquets are very likely to increase in value. The Topspin is 27" long and has a 10 x 13" string bed. Racket weight: about 14 oz. and it generates plenty of power with control. All items have passed T.A. Davis inspection for general release. email joesch@woodtennis.com for any questions Thanks
